Simpler than Chess, more challenging than Go, more fun than Checkers (Draughts): This ingenious 2-player board game—invented in England by Thomas Naylor and played in tournaments at both Cambridge and Oxford Universities—can be learned in only a few minutes, yet it possesses such subtle strategic possibilies that you will find yourself increasingly absorbed by it and ever on the look-out for new competitors.
Despite the name, Fibonacci the boardgame is unrelated to the mathematician Fibonacci or his famous sequence. This is instead an abstract game of strategy using an hexagonal board and involving three kinds of player pieces, each with simple rules governing how the piece may be used. A typical game lasts only 10 to 30 minutes, providing many opportunities to improve one's skills and enjoy repeated rematches in a typical afternoon or after-dinner round of play. The game is easily learned by children or adults 12 and over, yet complete mastery will challenge the abilities of even the most accomplished abstract gamer.
This premium boxed set is imported from England and includes the playing board (approximately 45cm/18in square), 26 player pieces, and complete instructions with a strategy guide for beginners.
